Eyes of the Day - Revlon Colorstay Quad (Goddess)

I recently picked up the Revlon Colorstay Quad in Goddess and I was so excited to try it out that I promptly created an eye look around it.

If you don't know what the consistency of the Revlon Quads is, I have to gush and tell you that they are absolutely smooth, buttery and a dream to blend. The only color I had a slightly harder time with was the deepest taupe grey in the bottom right-hand corner of the quad. I suspect this color moved a little more than the rest during application because it has larger shimmer particles. All in all, this quad was definitely worth the $4.50 I paid for it (originally the price is $8.99, still a good price point).

Here's how I achieved this look:

  • Applied bottom-left shade all over my lid on a white base
  • Used highlight color underneath my brow and in the inner corner
  • Darkened up the outer "V" with bottom right color and blended
  • Used the peachy pink shade on top of the crease color to warm it up

For an added pop of color, since I like my looks to be a little more unique, I chose to go with the the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Glistening Garnet. I used this color as an accent under my eye and close to my waterline

I hope you guys enjoyed this look! I love playing with new products and I'm always so excited when I get something new to try it out ASAP!

Red Winter Cheetah

I saw this dress on Modcloth.com recently and this look was inspired by a friend of mine. She's fun and girly and likes wearing dresses like me. She's eclectic and electric, classy and fierce all at the same time. I know this ensemble would make anyone feel like they're the belle of the mall. This is a look complete with accessories and makeup inspiration. A bold, golden cat-eye is the perfect addition with a dark brown winged eyeliner.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Collection

Hi all,

I don't know if I've been living under a rock but Target has some really cool stuff... I guess I never really paid attention to how fashionable some of their items are because I assumed they were just like their counterpart (Wal-Mart) and didn't obtain anything young or hip.

I was pleasantly introduced to the Phillp Lim 3.1 limited-edition collection by my sister-in-law, and serendipitously my husband informed us at 3:30AM on the collection release date (Sept 15th/2013) that the items were up online. I guess we got lucky that he was up watching some UFC match that ran late otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten our hands on these bags. So of course we went into crazy panic mode and bought 2 of the large bags, 5 of the smaller bags, 2 overnighter Cheetah print bags, and I got a weird-looking sweater-dress. We also went into the store and battled the masses, but we only walked away with one small black bag.

When they arrived, I absolutely loved these bags (with yellow being my favorite) and they even have side zippers so you can configure them as shown in the taupe (appears grayish) purse, the pricepoint was $34.99/each:

I was even more thrilled a few days later that my overnight bag (only sold online) arrived just as my husband and I booked our plane tickets for a flight to Portland, OR scheduled for the very next day for a freelance booking. The bag pulls up about to double its size (shown in second photo). Now the only real problem with this bag is that it is really intended only for traveling, you can't walk around with it too much, if you pack it too full you will barely be able to get it over your arm, and it'll feel very uncomfortable. That being said, it's a terrifically made bag for its pricepoint ($49.99) and it is quite large, I was able to fit 3 large sweaters, 2 jackets, a scarf, my enormous makeup case and misc. other items.

My sister-in-law, also named Alex, purchased the large bag for herself as well. It's super cute and roomy, I personally love the taupe version of this bag, but she prefers the black so it'll match everything she wears. This bag did seem very large, you could pretty easily fit a laptop in there and I think it's probably an amazing bag for work. They also offered an online-only color of this bag in a deep purple.

I have yet to see the sweater-dress, so I will update you guys later on that one, as it arrived after we had already left NYC for Portland. For those of you that are not from the US, you can purchase these items all over eBay, it's pretty flooded with the collection. But buyer beware, I really thought that the majority of the clothes were very poorly made and definitely did not warrant the high price-point (at least in comparison to other Target clothes).

Let me know if you purchased anything from the Phillip Lim for Target 3.1 collection and what you think about it in the comments section below!

DIY Anthropologie-Inspired Hip Cinched Blouse

This is a fabulous DIY t-shirt idea that can be translated into all sorts of different pieces - you can use this technique on the bottoms of shirts, skirts, pant legs, etc. It's really an idea you can take anywhere your creativity guides you!

All you'll need for this project is:
A shirt
1 piece of fabric
1 ribbon
Sewing machine (or your meticulous little fingers and a needle with some color-coordinated thread)

1. Find a shirt and turn it inside out.

2. Lay your ribbon down and cut a piece of fabric large enough to cover your ribbon and pin the piece down

3. Sew on the fabric, making 3 large stitches, between the ribbon and on each side.

4. Cinch and tie and you've completed your project!

New Jewelry Retail Website

Hi guys, sorry I've been MIA for a few days now, but it's been for good reason: I've been working extremely hard on this website http://www.bonanza.com/booths/LethalGlam where I'm looking forward to selling my creations! Sometimes I just can't help it and I design jewelry, all types too - bracelets, earrings, and necklaces in various styles, so I decided to try and turn that into a business. I hope everyone enjoys it and here's a quick sneak peek at some of the pieces up for sale:

The shop is definitely at a lower price point and it sticks to the motto I live by where you shouldn't need to have lots of money to look fabulous! I'll be putting up new pieces all the time, there's currently 79 lots up for sale so please check it out. I'll also take commissions for what you'd like to see or custom pieces!

Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale

Full-skirted dress, sale price $95
This is an exciting sale if you're a girl that loves her cute and comfy panties and bras, as well as any of their clothes (which are remarkably good quality). Victoria's Secret is having their huge blowout semi-annual sale and you can get panties for only $2.99 a pair and bras for only $14.99.

Here are the current promos they have going on that I found at retailmenot.com, upon checkout enter the following codes so you can receive the bonuses:

Coupon Code: 299PANTY and any clearance panties will only be $2.99, expires 1/16/12
Coupon Code: VS100 for Free Shipping on order of $100, expires 1/22/12
Coupon Code: SWIM125 for Free Swim Tote with $125 purchase, expires 1/22/12

If you ever plan on getting anything from Victoria's Secret, I suggest doing so now or waiting until Black Friday comes around again this year, otherwise things are a lot more overpriced than they are now. A bunch of their dresses are on sale (almost all of them in fact) so if you're looking for something for a wedding, or a sweater dress, or a multi-way dress, you've found it on here!

Here are some of my favs:

Fashionista on a Budget, episode 3

This week, my friends and I went on a shopping escapade through downtown Seattle and ravaged Pacific Place, Forever 21, and H&M for things to wear to the company Christmas party (which was last night). We didn't find anything we particularly liked in terms of dresses, but we walked away with assorted other items like tank tops and sweaters. All of these items are much more suited to the weather here and our lifestyles, so they were probably wiser purchases than a dress anyway.

I picked up this Ecote Feather Embellished Tank Top from Urban Outfitters because it was on sale and it is made of a thick cotton material that I love wearing during the winter-time under cardigans. I purchased two of these tank tops, one in the off-white with beige beads, and the other in black with gray beads. They are low-cut in the back and can look a little sultry. The original retail price of these tank tops was $49, which I think is ludicrous for the tiny bit of material any tank top is made from, so I waited until they were on sale for $19 and the UO was having a 50% off sale items day. I picked up both of these tank tops for under $10 each. Now, that's what I call shopping! I'm very happy with this purchase because they suit day-to-day activities and are not under-dressed or over-dressed for any occasion.

Next, I saw this Staring at Stars Fuzzy Open Stitch Open Cardigan that I had seen weeks before but it was originally $59, which is far more than I had valued it. Therefore, when it went on sale, it became $29, and with the half-off promo they had going on, it became $15/each. However, at the cash register, the lady that rang it up, only charged me $10 for it, so I was absolutely thrilled. I got one in coral (which they don't have pictured on the website, so they must be sold out) and one in white. I'm kind of upset I didn't pick one up in black, but I wasn't sure if I wanted the same cardigan in triplicate! The damage I did during this shopping trip was around $43 with taxes and all, so I got two tank tops and two cardigans for that amount. The original amount would have been $98 for the tank tops and $118 for the cardigans, leaving the whopping non-sale, non-50% promotion, total at $216.

I'm a firm believer that if you're not desperately looking for one thing or another, you won't spend too much money shopping on the essentials for the winter season. Everything goes on sale, eventually. That's my mantra. Purchasing from the sale rack of this type of store is even a great idea for holiday presents for friends and family. They will be surprised and the big present you got them, but you don't have to reach deep inside your pockets to do it.

Fashionista on a Budget, Episode 2

During one of my many leisurely strolls through downtown's shopping district, I came across an adorable store called Romy. I'll admit their website leaves much... well, really everything to the imagination, but the store is filled with cutesy dresses and to my surprise was stocked up on sweater-dresses for the season. I hadn't planned on purchasing anything but the prices in here are so phenomenal that I managed to get all of these items for $50.

These may not look like much on hangers but they're flattering on the figure, comfortable, and warm for those fall/winter months. The burgundy-wine cowl-neck dress  is especially so, it hits around the knee (if you're 5'4 like me), as does the black one. The burgundy dress is made of a wool-blend fabric, while the black one on the right is a knit cotton with knitted detail. They both have that feminine baby-doll fit which is what draws me to the store, because almost all of their dresses have the exact same shape.

I know you may be wondering when you see the belt that I purchased if this is not too similar to the one I had bought in the previous entry about the Urban Outfitters haul, well.... it is, it really is. The only logical explanation I have is that this belt happened to be $3, how could I say no??? How can anybody say no? Plus, I'm a sucker for bows and shiny things.

Lastly, because I had spent $50 with the previous items, I received a free $10 giftcard which I promptly used towards the purchase of this scarf (which happened to conveniently be $10). I needed this scarf because it's extremely warm and it's a cotton knit fabric, it's exceptionally crafted for how cheap it is.

So, in conclusion, thank-you Romy, I will definitely be back for more inexpensive seasonal clothing. The ladies who worked here were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The store also has a variety of cute accessories (headbands, earrings, etc) that don't require you reach too deep into your pockets.
